Solveig Thorarinsdottir is a PhD candidate at the Oslo Sports Trauma Research Center and is now working on a project aiming to investigate the prevalence of health problems, with special focus on groin problems, in female football and possible preventative strategies. The project will also aim to investige the effect of the menstrual cycle and use of hormonal contraceptives on the risk of sustaining an injury.
Solveig is a physical therapist from Iceland, with an MSc in Sports Physical Therapy from The Norwegian School of Sport Sciences.
She has previously worked as a physical therapist for the Icelandic and Norwegian Football Association.
Solveig is also a former football player at an elite level.
