Erling is a part of Team SKADEFRI at OSTRC.
He has worked at several different projects at the OSTRC and the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences since 2010.
In January 2017 he was put in charge as the project coordinator for the FIS Injury Surveillance System (FIS ISS), world cup, in the sport disciplines; alpine skiing, snowboard, freestyle skiing and ski jumping. He held this position until March 2020 when it was stopped due to the pandemic.
In the Paris Olympics 2024 he was a part of IOC`s Medical Research Team.
Erling has a master’s degree from the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, and a European master’s degree from Foro Italico in Rome, with anti-doping as his specialty. In addition, he has a bachelor’s degree in Physical Activity and Health and several individual studies in sport, from the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences.
He has taken one year with Italian language at the University of Oslo and also studied History at the University of South- East Norway, in Bø in Telemark.
Erling also works as a Doping Control Officer (DCO) for International Doping Tests & Management (IDTM). He is also certified as an iDCO with ITA (International Testing Agency). In addition, he has taken the IOC`s Drugs in Sports educational program, with graduation from 2021.
He is still an athlete, uphill/mountain running, with a gold from the Norwegian overall cup in uphill running in 2016, and silver in 2017 and 2019.
In 2019 he competed for Norway during the European Championship in Skyrunning.
