Description
Background: The treatment of patients with a concomitant ACL-injury and cartilage defect is not fully resolved. There are few long-term follow-up studies. Røtterud et al presented 2-5 year results, whereas Ulstein et al presented results 5-9 years from surgery. The findings from these two studies differed. A long-term follow up is important for the future treatment and follow-up of these patients.
Aim: The goal is to explore the long-term outcome in patients with combined ACL-injury and cartilage defect.
Methods: We will perform a long-term follow-up (12-15 years) of a cohort of ACL-reconstructed patients with concomitant cartilage defect recruited from the Norwegian cruciate ligament register. Outcome will be measured with patient reported outcome measures and radiological examinations.
Implications: The long-term effect of treatment within this patient group is still largely unknown, and the results from this project will be an important contribution.
