Description

Introduction: This is a follow-up of the project "The Young Athlete's Health", a study on health problems in first-year students at Elite Sport High Schools. At the time of admission, the students are considered possible senior elite athletes, and they follow a regular high-school education while doing elite level sports. The current project collects data from the students last two years in high school, and the first year after high school.

Little is known about the relationship between health complaints and achievements in sport, and there is no data on regarding health complaints and academic results.

Purpose
: Evaluate possible associations between health complaints, and achievements in sports and school.

Method
: Web-based questionnaires and personal interview. The personal interview includes a retrospective registration of health complaints covering the last two years. Web-based questionnaires will be distributed spring 2017 and spring 2018.

Implications
: Knowledge regarding how health impacts on achievement will hopefully help motivate coaches and athletes for preventive measures.
