Engebretsen new JBJS editor

Intoduction

Professor Lars Engebretsen is appointed as new international editor of The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (JBJS). The renowned JBJS is reckoned as the largest orthopedic journal in the world.

Engebretsen has a long and impressive CV. With this recent appointment it becomes even longer. JBJS’ history stretches far back in time and among other things have a PDF archive dating back to 1887.

The journal is viewed by many as the most valued source of information for both researchers and surgeons within the field of orthopedics. JBJS is counted almost as “obligatory” reading material for both general and specialist orthopedic surgeons.

Important position

Becoming international editor at JBJS is a prestigious appointment, and it is Engebretsens long experience as an active researcher and contributor in the field that has brought him to this position. For the next six years Professor Engebretsen will be responsible for «his area» Europe.

In addition to promoting the journal in Europe, and the opportunity to affect the journals profile, there is one task that stands out with this new position.

– I have the ambition that more Europeans will publish their results in the world’s largest orthopedic journal, Engebretsen says.

With Engebretsens wide network within orthopedics, don’t be surprised by more European presence in the journal based in Needham, Massachusetts in USA.

Not the first time

When it comes to editorial work Engebretsen is no novice. He is editor of the IOC issue of British Journal of Sports Medicine. The issue is published four times a year.

Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery is published twice a month, on the first and third Wednesday of each month.

Engebretsen holds positions in several editorial boards at sports- and orthopedic journals all over the world. He has also published more than 300 scientific articles and book chapters so far in his career.
