"Book of the year" – improved and revised
Intoduction
The sports medicine textbook, “Clinical guide to sports injuries”, has received rave reviews from both sides of the Atlantic. Now new editions are published in Spanish and Simplified Chinese.
“Clinical guide to sports injuries” is a thorough and richly illustrated guide to diagnosis, treatment and prevention of both acute injuries and injuries due to repetitive overuse connected to sports activity. The book is pedagogic in structure and visuals, and approaches the problems systematically, from region to region, from head to toe.
Every part is written and organized by Norway’s leading experts in the respective fields. In the last edition, part 4, which deals with injuries to the head, is thoroughly revised. The book is available in Norwegian, Swedish, and English, in addition to teh new Spanish and simplified Chinese versions. In 2008, it will be published in Greek, and the Traditional Chinese version is due in 2009.
Rich illustrations – rave reviews
The American English version of “Clinical guide to sports injuries” was in 2006 described as “Book of the year” by the acknowledged medical publication British Journal of Sports Medicine (BJMS), and recommended to both inexperienced and seasoned clinicians for its step by step approach to the problems. The Norwegian Sports Medicine Associations member’s magazine describes it as “a must for doctors and physiotherapists”, while the Swedish Sports Medicine magazine ranks it as “one of the prime sports medicine textbooks throughout the world”.
However, the main strength and reason for the attention created, is thought to be its use of lavish high quality illustrations, with over 400 colour pictures and 120 photos. All of the artwork is also included on an accompanying CD-ROM for use in lectures and illustrations. The artist, Tommy Bolic, has been widely acknowledged for his drawings.
