The work of Gilbert and his team, including the legends, knee specialists and surgeons, professor Lars Engebretsen and Rob LaPrade, will help guide surgerons in decision making for the graft tensioning order during multiple knee ligament reconstructions.

The award was handed over to Gilbert (to the left) by Chairman of AOOSM Research Matt Provencher at the annual meeting of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) in San Diego.

Besides other, the outstanding work was described as "Although the researchers didn’t test all possible tensioning orders, these findings provide the first empirically tested answer regarding which grafts to tension first during a multiligament reconstruction of a dislocated knee. By identifying the sequence most likely to produce a favorable orientation, they’ve taken the field one step closer to preserving joint function".

CONGRATULATIONS, Gilbert & team!
